Foyers sits on the quieter south-east shore of Loch Ness, wrapped in woodland around its famous waterfall. The Falls of Foyers drop around 140 feet in two stages — enough to move Robert Burns to write a poem about them in 1787. A British Aluminium smelter tapped the river for hydro power from 1895 and thinned the flow, so the falls are at their best after rain. Steep paths lead down to the viewpoints. Beauly station is about 25km to the north.
