A ruined cathedral stands among tall trees on the bank of the Tay at Dunkeld, half of it still roofed and in use as the parish church. The little town behind it was rebuilt after the Jacobite battle of 1689, and the National Trust for Scotland has restored the row of “Little Houses” along Cathedral Street and the Cross. It’s a lovely place to wander. The station, shared with Birnam, is about 1km away.
