Ditchling is a village of Tudor and Georgian houses at the foot of Ditchling Beacon, the highest point in East Sussex at 248m. The letter-cutter and sculptor Eric Gill moved here in 1907, and the artists’ Guild of St Joseph and St Dominic followed a few years later; the story is told at the village’s Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft. Hassocks station is about 2km to the west.
