Hurstpierpoint is a small town below the Downs with a tidy high street of shops and pubs. Wolstonbury Hill, National Trust chalk grassland with an Iron Age fort on top, is a good walk south, and the Jack and Jill windmills stand over at Clayton nearby. Hassocks station is about 3km east.
