Charlton is a hamlet of flint cottages under Levin Down, once the base of the celebrated Charlton Hunt in the 1700s. The Fox Goes Free still stands at its centre, and Singleton with the Weald & Downland museum is a short walk down the valley. Chichester is the nearest station, about 9km south.
