The Fox Goes Free is an old flint-and-brick inn at Charlton, below the Downs near Goodwood, with rooms and a garden. In 1915 its back room hosted the first Women’s Institute meeting in England, run by the Singleton and East Dean WI. Chichester station is about 9km to the south.
