Blockley made its money from silk — six mills once ran off the fast brook that still cuts through the village, all closed by the 1880s. These days it’s better known as Kembleford, the stand-in for the village in TV’s Father Brown, with the church and vicarage appearing throughout. Golden cottages climb the steep valley sides. Moreton-in-Marsh station is about 4km south-east.
