Bettyhill is a crofting village on Sutherland’s north coast, settled largely by people cleared from the green straths of Strathnaver just inland. That story is told at the Strathnaver Museum, housed in the village’s former parish church. Big, empty beaches — Farr and Torrisdale — sit either side, which makes it a natural base for exploring the far north-west.
