Strathnaver Museum tells the story of the Highland Clearances and Clan Mackay from inside the old parish church at Farr, in Bettyhill. The Strathnaver valley just inland was one of the most notorious scenes of the Clearances, so the collection carries real weight. In the churchyard stands the Farr Stone, a carved Pictish cross-slab. It’s on the A836 north-coast road, with no railway close by.
