Ashton Keynes
Local highlightThe infant Thames runs in shallow channels along the street at Ashton Keynes, crossed by little flagstone bridges to the cottage doors. It’s known as the village of the four crosses, after the medieval stone crosses whose weathered bases still stand about the lanes. This is the edge of the Cotswold Water Park, ringed by lakes and old gravel-pit reserves. Kemble station is roughly 7km north-west.
