Granite cottages line the lanes at Altarnun, on the northern edge of Bodmin Moor, where a low 15th-century packhorse bridge crosses Penpont Water to the church. St Nonna’s is so large for its village that it has long been called the Cathedral of the Moor, its west tower among the tallest in Cornwall. The Rising Sun is a short walk off.
