Limestone cottages gather around a green on the plateau between the Dove and Manifold gorges, high in the Peak District. It’s a well-placed walking base — footpaths drop into both valleys, and the Manifold Valley trail is within reach. There’s a church, a pub on the green and little passing traffic. Ilam and Dovedale lie a few miles south.
