Approximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.

Whitehaven was one of Britain’s first planned towns, and its harbour still shows it — a fine set of Georgian stone quays and piers, now with a marina full of yachts where coal and tobacco ships once tied up. You can walk the harbour walls and read the town’s mining and trading past in the old buildings around it. It’s right beside the centre of Whitehaven, with the station a short walk off.
