The Rum Story is a museum set in the original Jefferson’s wine and spirit vaults in Whitehaven, telling how the town grew rich shipping rum, sugar and tobacco across the Atlantic — the trade’s darker side included. It’s an atmospheric warren of old cellars and reconstructed scenes, finishing, fittingly, with a tasting. Whitehaven station is a few minutes’ walk away, so it’s easy to reach without a car.
