This tidy horse was cut in 1838 to mark the young Queen Victoria’s coronation, and is usually credited to the parish clerk, Henry Eatwell, and a local publican. It sits just below the Ridgeway on the scarp of Hackpen Hill, with the stones of Avebury a few miles south across the downs.
