A white horse cut into the chalk in 1864 marks the hillside above Broad Town, at the foot of the North Wessex Downs scarp. The figure has been re-cut and tidied by villagers over the years to keep it from grassing over. It’s a scattered farming village, with footpaths climbing the escarpment behind.
