Castle o'Burrian
Local highlightIf you’re after a near-guaranteed puffin sighting, Castle o’Burrian is the spot — a squat sea stack off the south-east of Westray where the birds nest through late spring and early summer. Westray is reached by ferry or a short flight from Kirkwall, then it’s a coastal walk down to the viewpoint. Bring binoculars and time your visit for the breeding season, roughly May to July.
