Bwlch y Groes
Local highlightApproximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.
At 545 metres, Bwlch y Groes is the second-highest public road pass in Wales, just topped by the Gospel Pass in the Black Mountains. The narrow lane climbs steeply between Bala and Dinas Mawddwy, a stiff test for cyclists and a fine viewpoint over the surrounding hills at the summit. No station comes anywhere close — this is remote, high country.
