At the head of a quiet valley beyond Llangynog, St Melangell’s is a 12th-century church that has drawn pilgrims for centuries. It holds the restored shrine of St Melangell, thought to be the oldest surviving Romanesque shrine in northern Europe, set behind the altar. Grade I listed and open to visitors, at the end of a long dead-end lane in the Tanat Valley.
