Brean Down
Local highlightOpen accessNational Trust land — free to wander
Brean Down is a long limestone headland that strides out into the Bristol Channel near Weston-super-Mare, its grassy spine ending in a Victorian fort of the 1860s that was re-armed again in the Second World War. The National Trust looks after it, and it’s open access — a steep path or a flight of steps gets you up onto the down. Weston-super-Mare station is about 4.5km to the north-east.
