A popular canalside pub right by the lock staircase at Fort Augustus, where boats climb the Caledonian Canal up from Loch Ness. There’s a good whisky selection and a waterside terrace that fills up whenever the sun’s out and the locks are working. Watching the boats rise and fall is half the entertainment. The Bothy sits just along the canal if you want more of a sit-down meal.
