Reckoned the oldest pub in Bowness-on-Windermere, the Hole in t’ Wall dates from the early 17th century and hides just up from the lakefront. Inside is a warren of flagstones, low beams, old prints and a barrel-topped bar, with a fire in the upper room. A cosy escape from the Bowness crowds; food is served, and Windermere station is a short walk or bus ride away.
