St Martin’s is the parish church of Bowness-on-Windermere, rebuilt and consecrated in 1483 after fire destroyed the earlier one. Its big east window is a patchwork of medieval glass, the oldest piece dating to around 1260, and old painted texts still run along the walls and beams. It sits right in the middle of Bowness, so it’s easy to pair with the lakeshore. Windermere station is about 2km away.
