The Feathers is Ludlow’s showpiece: an extravagant timber-framed front built in 1619 for a Welsh lawyer, Rees Jones, and turned into an inn around 1670. The carved facade, studded with the Prince of Wales’s feathers it takes its name from, is one of the most photographed in England — a New York Times writer once called it the most handsome inn in the world. Food, rooms, and the station a few minutes’ walk away.
