The Falcon faces the churchyard at Painswick, where ranks of clipped yews crowd the graves. It’s a Georgian former coaching inn, now with well-kept rooms and a good kitchen, and a fair base for walking the Cotswold Way over Painswick Beacon. Stroud station is about 5km south.
