Painswick Rococo Garden

Come in February for the snowdrops — the hidden combe below Painswick House fills with one of the largest naturalistic plantings in the country. The garden itself is the real curiosity: laid out in the 1740s for garden parties and restored since 1984, it’s the only complete rococo garden left in England, with its follies and winding paths intact. Paid entry, open most of the year. Stroud station is about 5km south.
