Walk up Sgor Gaoith from the Glen Feshie side and it feels like a gentle, grassy rise, right up until the ground stops. The 1,116m summit sits on the very lip of crags that drop steeply to Loch Einich in its trench below, which makes this one of the finer viewpoints in the western Cairngorms. It’s a Munro, meaning a Scottish hill over 3,000 feet, and the name is usually taken to mean the peak of the wind. The usual approach is from Achlean in Glen Feshie; there’s little shelter up top, so pick a settled day if you want the view across to Braeriach.
