A big rounded Munro deep in Glen Affric, among the highest hills north of the Great Glen, usually paired with Carn Eighe

Deep in Glen Affric, Mam Sodhail is a big rounded Munro — a Scottish hill over 3,000 feet (914m) — of 1179m, one of the highest summits north of the Great Glen. A large ruined cairn crowns the top, built as a survey station when the Ordnance Survey mapped the Highlands. It is usually paired with its neighbour Carn Eighe, less than a mile north. The approach past Loch Affric is a fair walk in its own right, so this is a full day rather than a quick one, and the tops need care in poor visibility.
