Getting to Sgurr nan Ceathramhnan is half the story: it sits about as far from a road as any Munro in the country, in the heart of Glen Affric. The 1,150m peak — a Munro is a Scottish hill over 3,000 feet — has two tops linked by a short ridge and a fine look from every side. People who climb it tend to make a big day or an overnight of it, either from the west in Kintail or the long way in along the Affric glen, sometimes tied in with the Falls of Glomach nearby. Either way it’s for fit, well-prepared walkers, with no short route to the top.
