Tomich was built as the estate village for Guisachan, and that estate has a claim to fame far beyond its size: it was here in the 1860s that Lord Tweedmouth began breeding the dogs that became the golden retriever. The trim Victorian cottages remain, and just beyond the village a forest track leads to Plodda Falls, a tall waterfall with a viewing platform out over the drop. Glen Affric is close by. Beauly station is a fair way off, about 28km to the north-east.
