Plodda Falls drop 46 metres through a wooded gorge in the hills near Tomich, on the edge of Glen Affric. The draw, besides the fall itself, is the viewing platform, which juts straight out over the lip, so you look down through the falling water to the pool far below — not one for anyone uneasy with heights. A Victorian iron footbridge once crossed the top here; the walkway visitors use now replaced it. The woods hold some of the tallest Douglas fir trees in Scotland, planted by a Victorian estate owner. A short circular path from the car park takes in the platform and a lower viewpoint. It makes an easy add-on to a day in Glen Affric, one of the great remnants of old Caledonian pine forest, with Dog Falls further up the glen.
