Grime’s Graves is a field of grassy hollows on the Breckland heath, each one a Neolithic flint mine dug around 2650 BC. English Heritage runs it, and it’s the only such mine in Britain you can enter — a ladder drops nine metres into one shaft to the black flint seam the miners were working. Paid entry; Thetford Forest surrounds the site, and Brandon station is about 4km to the south-west.
