Talybont Reservoir fills a wooded valley on the eastern side of the Beacons, with a level lakeside path and a reputation for birdwatching, especially over winter. It’s stocked with brown trout, and the old railway line along its western shore makes for easy walking or cycling. The village of Talybont-on-Usk sits at the northern end, handy for a pub after a loop of the water.
