Wallington is a National Trust house and estate at Cambo, handsome and unshowy, best known inside for the central hall painted with scenes from Northumbrian history by the Pre-Raphaelite William Bell Scott. Outdoors there’s a fine walled garden reached by a walk through the grounds, along with lawns, ponds and woodland. Capability Brown, born just up the road at Kirkharle, is thought to have had a hand in the landscape. Morpeth station is about 18km east.
