Copped Hall is a Georgian mansion above the Cobbins Brook valley, gutted by fire in 1917 and left derelict for decades until the Copped Hall Trust began restoring it in 1995. The walled garden and 20 acres of grounds are being brought back alongside the house. It only opens for advertised events — guided tours on the third Sunday of the month, garden afternoons through spring and summer, and an Apple Day — so check the Trust’s website before setting off. Epping Forest is close by to the south.
