William Podmore spent much of his long life turning this worn-out corner of the Churnet Valley into a landscape garden, levelling old pit banks and building dams to make six lakes across some 70 acres. The result is a garden of long designed vistas rather than flower beds, with follies, summer houses, packhorse bridges and around four miles of paths high above Consall Forge. Entry is paid, on selected open days. Blythe Bridge station lies about 9km to the south-west.
