Cheddleton strings along the Caldon Canal in the Churnet Valley. Its flint mill — two working waterwheels that once ground flint for the Potteries — still turns for visitors, and the preserved Churnet Valley Railway runs steam trains from the village. Good for a canal-and-railway afternoon rather than a long stay.
