Approximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.

A preserved standard-gauge steam line running through the wooded Churnet Valley, sometimes called Staffordshire’s Little Switzerland. The heritage operation is based at Cheddleton station and runs south to Consall and Kingsley & Froghall, with services extended up to Leek from late 2024. Restored steam and diesel locomotives haul the trains, and there’s a small railway museum at Cheddleton. Tickets are paid; check running days before setting out, as the timetable is seasonal.
