The reason to seek out St Wendreda’s is overhead: a double hammerbeam roof carrying a host of around 120 carved angels, wings spread, made in the 1520s and reckoned among the finest angel roofs in England. It crowns a medieval church a little south of March town. Usually open in the daytime; March station is about 2.5km north.
