Salle’s church is enormous, and almost without a village to go with it — a vast 15th-century wool church marooned among fields, often called the finest in Norfolk. Wealthy cloth merchants built it in one campaign, in imported Barnack stone, with a 126-foot tower you can pick out for miles. Open access, and quietly astonishing for so remote a spot. Reepham lies a few miles east.
