A few streets from the Minster, St Mary’s is Beverley’s other magnificent medieval church, and would be the pride of most towns on its own. Look for the little carved pilgrim rabbit on a chancel arch — said to have been the inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland. It’s a short walk from the station, and easily paired with Beverley Minster in a single visit.
