St David is said to have addressed the sixth-century Synod of Brefi here, the ground rising beneath his feet so the crowd could see him. The church that marks the spot stands on a mound above the village, its stubby central tower 12th-century and the rest largely rebuilt in the 1870s. Open to visitors, in the middle of Llanddewi Brefi.
