Known as the King of Holderness, St Augustine’s is a cathedral-scale church that dwarfs the little town of Hedon around it — a reminder that Hedon was a busy medieval port before its trade drained away to Hull. The oldest parts date from about 1190, and a tall, richly buttressed tower rises over the crossing. Open and free. Hull, and its station, is under 10km west.
