A wide sweep of firm sand backed by dunes on the open Lincolnshire coast, Mablethorpe is a traditional bucket-and-spade resort — arcades and donkey rides along the front, and miles of beach to walk north towards the quieter dunes at Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe. The town lost its railway long ago, so it’s a drive or a bus in; the nearest working station is Skegness, well to the south.
