Oyster town of weatherboard huts and shingle.
Whitstable is a working oyster town of weatherboarded fishermen’s huts and seafood shacks along a shingle beach. It’s long been known for its native oysters and holds an oyster festival each July. The Sportsman at Seasalter, a short way west along the coast, is a well-known dining pub. Whitstable station is about half a kilometre inland.
