West Kilbride, on the North Ayrshire coast, calls itself Scotland’s first accredited Craft Town — a scatter of studios and galleries around the old village. Down at the shore, Portencross has a small castle and a jetty looking over to Arran, with Ardneil Bay just along the coast. The station is in the village, on the Largs and Ardrossan lines.
