Taynuilt lies just off Loch Etive east of Oban, on the A85 and the Oban railway line. Its main draw is Bonawe Historic Iron Furnace, a remarkably complete charcoal-fired ironworks built in 1753 and now in the care of Historic Environment Scotland. Nearby, the Inverawe Smokehouse sells its smoked salmon and trout and has trails and a café. An easy stop whether you’re travelling by car or train.
