Odiham has one of the finest Georgian high streets in Hampshire, wide and lined with old inns and townhouses. Below it the restored Basingstoke Canal draws walkers and narrowboats towards the ruins of King John’s Castle at North Warnborough. The big flint church keeps a rare timber pest house and a set of village stocks in its yard. Hook station is about 4km to the north.
