Greywell is a thatched village at the western end of the navigable Basingstoke Canal, where the water disappears into the collapsed Greywell Tunnel, now sealed as one of Britain’s largest bat roosts. The chalk River Whitewater rises nearby. It’s a quiet spot with a small church and a pub. Hook station is about 3km to the north.
