Mold — Yr Wyddgrug in Welsh — is the county town of Flintshire, with a twice-weekly street market and Theatr Clwyd, one of Wales’s main producing theatres, on the edge of town. Bailey Hill, the mound of a Norman castle, rises behind the parish church. The Welsh-language novelist Daniel Owen came from here and is remembered with a statue. Buckley station is about 6km east.
